Winner – Honors – Hip Hip Hooray On November 17th a very special assembly will be held at Eisenhower Elementary and a wonderful and important announcement will be made. This is a very well deserved honor and more news and information will come home as the time draws closer.
Walk a Mile Following the Geary County Healthcare Foundation/Bramlage Family Foundation Walk a Mile on Friday, October 6th, names of each participant were entered into a drawing for some really swell prizes. The winner of the scooter and helmet was Ethan Souza from Mrs. VanNatta’s first grade. Winning the bicycle and helmet was Joham Ortiz from Mrs. Kirkland’s third grade. This year Eisenhower had the winner of the adult prize which was a Fitbit watch, and that was Mr. Lawrence Walker.
Color Run Eisenhower Elementary’s first ever Color Dash/Fun Run was a smash hit. There were over 150 participants running the course and everyone had a great time whether they were color dashed or just watching. Please mark your calendars next year and come out for this fun event!
Thanksgiving Banquet Eisenhower Elementary’s annual Thanksgiving Banquet will be held Thursday, November 16th. The entire student body, along with all staff members, will share together in this Thanksgiving meal. Due to our limited amount of seating, we cannot invite parents and family members to join us. Thank you for your understanding. (Our official Thanksgiving break will begin with the dismissal bell on Tuesday, November 21st.)
Daylight Savings Time Daylight Savings Time will end on Sunday, November 5th. When you go to bed Saturday night, set your clocks back one hour and Sunday morning you will be on correct time. Remember it’s spring forward, fall back.
Picture Re-take Day Individual school pictures were taken October 24th. If your student was absent that day, if they are a new student and weren’t here on that day, if there was something wrong with the pictures which were taken, we will be having picture re-take day November 28th after the Thanksgiving Holiday break. You may request a picture re-take order packet from the office, and we will send that home with your student.
Elections Tuesday, November 7th will be Election Day in Junction City, as in other towns and cities across our country. In Junction City we will vote for City Commissioners, Board of Education Members and for whether or not the City and USD 475 School Board should or should not enter into a building project for a new high school. All of these items are very important and require much thought on your part, however the most important thing is that you do get out and vote, whatever your choice. Remember every vote does count.
Gymnasium Eisenhower’s new gym is very close to finish and we are so excited for the grand unveiling. This project will free up our existing gym to be a dedicated breakfast/lunchroom, we will have more parking spaces which will help the congestion in our parking lot, so this is a winning project all the way around. We know you have been watching this building for the last several months, and we do appreciate your patience with all the inconvenience, but it will be well worth it. It is just one more step into making Eisenhower Elementary the great school that it is.
Super Savor Cards Remember the cards our students were selling a few weeks ago, and if they sold a certain amount they won a trip to the Pizza Hut in a limo. All the efforts were certainly well worth it, as Eisenhower Elementary earned over $1,500.00 and this money will be used for student projects and for items needed in our classrooms. We all have heard about the state reducing the funds given to schools, so anything we can do to earn extra money for our building classroom expenses is a gift.
Box Tops for Education Another project we have is a yearly, ongoing collection of box tops off many products your family uses every day. We send home sheets to glue or tape the box tops on, or you can simply put them in a bag and send them to school. Each year we set a goal, and this year we hope to earn $1,200.00. Thanks to our wonderful students and their parents, we usually reach our yearly goal. Please keep collecting those little paper box tops symbols and send them to us.
The Eisenhower Staff wishes all our students and their families a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. If you are traveling over the river and through the woods, travel safely. This is the official start of the holiday season, so eat lots of delicious food, maybe do a little shopping and get in on a little football watching time. Play outside if the weather allows. We will see you back in school on November 27th to begin the slide toward Christmas.
