An Open Letter to Parents, Guardians, and the Eisenhower Elementary Community:
Greetings Eisenhower Families!
It is with sincere excitement that the Eisenhower staff welcomes each of you to the 2020-2021 school year. As with any new school year, refinements to how we go about educating our students are made and the uniqueness of this school year has certainly created opportunities for us to adjust many practices and procedures to ensure the safety of all students and staff. Any, and all, safety measures will reflect guidance that has been provided to our district by our local health department, State Board of Education, and district personnel. As we maneuver through the school year ahead, the safety of all, while delivering high-quality instruction, will continue to be our priority. Listed below are some important safety measures that will be necessary as we begin the school year:
- Face masks/coverings will be required by all staff and students. Please ensure that your child has practiced wearing a face mask before school begins; this will be incredibly important so that children understand it is an expectation by all. All schools will have extra masks on hand for students or staff who may need one. Details regarding when students do not have to wear their mask will be shared in our re-entry plan.
- All students should have a water bottle to use throughout the day. Water bottles should be easy to handle and have some kind of lid that can be closed. Students will be able to fill their water bottles here at school if need be. Water will be the only liquid allowed in water bottles.
- Visitors will not have access into the school building unless it is an emergency. While we take pride in maintaining a welcoming environment, we must reduce the number of individuals in each school building which is the reason for this new procedure.
- Large assemblies of students, staff and families will not be able to occur for at least the first semester. This means that activities such as our traditional Morning Gathering in the cafeteria and our Meet and Greet evening will not occur as they have in the past. Alternative plans are being made and will be shared with all in the weeks ahead and prior to school beginning.
Throughout the school year ahead, we encourage you to continuously visit our school website and Facebook page which can be found on our District website at www.usd475.org to stay up-to-date on our school re-entry plan, which will be posted on August 24th, school news and celebrations. The first day of school for students in grades 1-5 will be August 31st and will be a half day, the first day for Early Childhood and Kindergarten will be Sept. 3rd.
Regardless of the learning format that you have decided on for your child, whether that be on-site or remote, we are thrilled to have you be a part of our Eisenhower Family and thank you in advance for your on-going support. Together, we can make this school year a wonderful experience for every student!
As always, I encourage you to contact your child’s teacher, our school office, or myself, at any time, should you need anything at all.
